Cumulative Rate

Determining heart rate of complex rhythms can be challenging. Within complex rhythms is an underlying rhythm (i.e. sinus rhythm) and possible extra ectopic beats (i.e. PAC, PJC, PVC). A dynamic heart rate on a cardiac monitor often adds all QRS complexes within a time frame and then extrapolates to heart rate/minute. This is essentially a cumulative heart rate.
